HTC-86100 Lifts Scaffolding at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

March 18, 2024

Lexington, KY – The National Park Service has begun renovations to the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on North Carolina’s Outer Banks. Designed and constructed in 1868-70, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is the tallest traditional lighthouse in the United States at 210 ft. (64 m) tall.

Scaffold Resource, Inc of Lanham, Maryland rented Williams Construction of Manassas, Virginia’s 100-ton (90-mt) HTC-86100 hydraulic truck crane to lift a scaffolding system that will include 28 landings and an elevator to carry materials for refurbishment of the 154-year old lighthouse over the course of 18 months. In order to protect the historical integrity of the lighthouse the scaffolding could not be anchored to the lighthouse structure.
