85|RTs assist reclaimed water system project in Austin, TX
Posillico Civil, Inc. of Houston, Texas, is utilizing two 85-ton (80-metric ton) 85|RT rough terrain cranes as part of the Oltorf Street Reclaimed Water Project in Austin, Texas. Rented from Texas-based Link-Belt Cranes distributor, HOLT Crane & Equipment, both cranes are operating above 60-foot-deep open pits to connect 7,000 linear feet of reclaimed water lines and complete the project’s second phase.
The multi-year project is developing a redundant “loop” around the city of Austin for reclaimed water used for irrigation, supporting manufacturing, cooling buildings, and more. The portion running beneath the Interstate 35 highway and parallel with Mariposa Drive is where the 85|RTs are positioned, shoring up the pits and assisting with maintenance and placement of mini tunnel boring machines digging the trenchless tunnels for new lines.
Construction began in 2022 and is scheduled for completion in 2026.
