TCC-1200 picks steel sections for bridge replacement
A bridge replacement project is currently underway along U.S. Route 52 (US 52) in Ripley, Ohio. Complete General Construction of Columbus, Ohio, is utilizing a Link-Belt Cranes 120-ton (110-metric ton) TCC-1200 telescopic crawler crane, rented from Link-Belt distributor Columbus Equipment Company, on the job.
During construction, the two-lane bridge over Redoak Creek, a tributary of the Ohio River, is reduced to one lane with temporary signals between US 52 and Cherry Street. The TCC-1200’s scope of work includes supporting demolition of the old bridge steel structure and lifting sections weighing up to 20,000 pounds fully rigged. The crane has worked on both sides of the below-grade creek bottom while alternating lanes of the bridge are closed for demolition prior to the new steel girder sections being placed.
With an estimated cost of $5.1 million, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) scheduled the construction for a fall 2026 completion date.
