NAVFAC Supports Inaugural NASCAR Race at Naval Base Coronado
SAN DIEGO – Recently, the Crane and Rigging department under the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) completed a unique lift at Naval Base Coronado. The team successfully loaded a NASCAR vehicle onto the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), utilizing a 110-ton Link-Belt rough terrain crane to execute the lift.
This operation, pictured above, was conducted in support of San Diego’s first-ever NASCAR race. The event highlights a partnership between the U.S. Navy and the motorsports community. The safe and efficient loading of the vehicle demonstrates the exceptional skill and capabilities of NAVFAC’s crane and rigging, who regularly manage critical lifts to support fleet readiness.
This collaboration provides a distinctive setting for the upcoming race and continues to build on the relationship between the military and the local San Diego community.
