‘Learning with Link-Belt’: A career opportunity
With an eye toward constant innovation, Link-Belt Cranes is committed to the growing need to resource and develop a local and highly skilled workforce. This effort, Learning with Link-Belt, affords advanced possibilities and expands Link-Belt’s capacity to continue making the best product possible.
To accomplish this, Link-Belt has partnered with the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) to promote its career opportunities and recruit recent technical school graduates from the central and eastern Kentucky areas. Link-Belt has donated equipment such as metrology devices and components like engines and travel motors to the Lawrenceburg Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) to support skilled trade students, and the company has participated in numerous KCTCS-sponsored events to raise awareness of Link-Belt Cranes and potential career opportunities.
“We provided a tour for the BCTC machining instructor, donated two Faro Arms to the classroom for training purposes, and our Link-Belt welding co-op program is officially underway,” said Link-Belt Vice President of Manufacturing Richard Shultz. “We also attended and provided judges for the Maysville Community and Technical College Trade Wars competition to introduce future welders and technicians to the various careers available at Link-Belt Cranes.”
Link-Belt Director of Production Mike Clevenger said it’s important that Link-Belt maintains its presence among local high schools and technical college institutions like KCTCS. This allows the company to identify the best in class at the earliest educational stages, where skills are developed at an even higher level.
“A large percentage of Link-Belt employees are graduates of these programs, including myself and other team members who have advanced within the production areas. This highlights the importance of our continued outreach efforts to support local students,” Clevenger said. “During the past two years in the welding trade, we have recruited an estimated 85 percent of new talented students accordingly.”
With over 30 different crane models in production at our Lexington, Kentucky, headquarters, the need for skilled team members increases by the day.
“Here at Link-Belt, we’re not just offering a job opportunity but a career opportunity,” Shultz said. “If you’re looking for experience to grow your knowledge and education, Link-Belt may be a destination for you and your long-term career goals.”
