Link-Belt unveils rugged LS-308H II for severe duty applications
LAS VEGAS (March 2002) — Link-Belt Construction Equipment Co.
unveiled the new LS-308H II 110-ton (99.97 mt) lattice boom crawler crane
at CONEXPO-CONAGG exhibit in Las Vegas. Designed specifically for a
variety of duty cycle applications, the standard LS-308H II is equipped to
perform lift applications, pile driving, dragline, clamshell, duty cycle,
and demolition.
An innovative power plant provides maximum power
The machine’s power plant, hoist package and high-capacity hydraulic
oil cooling system is what enables the LS-308H II to deliver day after day
of full load performance. The 332 hp. (248 kW) Mitsubishi engine provides
impressive line speeds under heavy load conditions. The total horsepower
control allows the hydraulics to work at maximum speed and pressures
during heavy load applications, which gives the operator maximum
production.
The LS-308H II front and rear drums are outfitted with 1.125” (28.6 mm)
wire rope providing 37,100 lbs. (16 828 kg) of allowable line pull and
55,000 lbs. (24 948 kg) of available line pull. The large hoist drums are
easily accessible for routine maintenance. The big drum brakes are also
easy to maintain and can be adjusted to the operator's preference. The
drums are designed with simple, reliable and low-cost “band” brakes.
Another innovation that enables the LS-308H II to out perform the
competition can be found in its hydraulic fan-driven, remote mounted,
hydraulic oil cooler with thermostatic control ensuring cool running
hydraulic oil and components in severe duty applications.
An optional auxiliary hydraulic power package provides additional
hydraulic supply for various attachments, such as hydraulic hammers,
buckets, grapples, shears, and generators.
Pump cavitation and contamination, a common occurrence with hydraulic
vibratory and impact hammers, is eliminated with this system, as it is
100-percent separate from the main hydraulics. This includes high flow,
high p.s.i. piston pumps, adjustable flow control valves, boom foot
mounted hydraulic manifold, separate remote cooler, separate reservoir
with double filtration. Also provided are two additional auxiliary circuit
spotters and clamp.
Two optional drums are available. A front-mounted third drum, as well
as an optional high-capacity fourth drum with true free-fall is equipped
with 7/8” (22.2 cm) wire rope.
Robust and versatile attachment options
The crane is equipped with 50’ – 160’ (15.24 – 48.77 m) of 60” by 54”
(1.52 x 1.37 m) in-line, pin-connected robust angle boom outfitted with a
quick-attach bridle system, wear blocks and heavy duty pendants built to
withstand side loads associated with duty cycle operation. With the 75’
(22.86 m) tubular lattice boom jib yields a maximum tip height of 220’
(67.1 m). A five-foot, single sheave tip extension is also available.
As a duty cycle machine, the clamshell and dragline rating is 32,250
lbs. (14 628 kg) with 120’ (36.58 m) of boom. In addition to its
outstanding lift crane capabilities, the boom top sections are outfitted
with universal top section connecting lugs for auxiliary sheaves and pile
driving adapter. All these features are designed to make it the most
job-application flexible crane in your yard.
To make the LS-308H II even more versatile and productive,
“blocked-over-end” capacities are available. The rated capacity limiter is
equipped with load cells in the boom hoist dead-end. Optional dedicated
spotter circuits for use with vibratory and impact hammers, augers and
other attachments.
Quickly and easily disassembles and transports in four loads
Assembly, disassembly and transport of the LS-308H II is quick and easy
because lifting sheaves are mounted in the base section. Quick track
disconnects can attach in minutes without the need for tools. The 50,496
lbs. (22 905 kg) counterweight is a seven-piece design consisting of one
base counterweight and six wing counterweights allowing greater load out
flexibility. The crane lower is equipped with fast hydraulic jacks for
easy track removal and loading. Standard left, right and front catwalks
are easily remove and store for transport. The complete machine loads out
in four loads.
Job proven lower
The crane’s lower is designed with 36” (0.9 m) self-cleaning track
shoes, sealed track rollers, idler and drive planetaries and compact
hydrostatic drives for maintenance free operation. The tracks are designed
with automatic hydraulic track tension and side frame
extension/retraction. The overall length is 20’ 11” (6.37 m) and width is
17’ 6” (5.33 m).
New HYLAB cab with user-friendly features
The LS-308H II’s cab features a full complement of “operator-friendly”
gauges and controls, such as backlit gauges, adjustable armrest-mounted,
single-axis controls, “Twist-o-grip” swing and throttle controls,
low-effort hydraulic brake pedals with minimal pedal range of motion,
optional fourth drum pedal and optional variable flow auxiliary hydraulic
circuit control. Another “creature-comfort” feature is the environmental
control unit with standard 18,650 BTU cab air conditioning and 19,000 BTU
heater. The ergonomic design offers the operator several advantages, such
as greater visibility, more room, easy to read and intelligently located
controls and gauges, adjustable boom and load hoist controls and an
six-way adjustable seat. Most importantly, the new cab is set up to be
highly functional and very comfortable.
