It has to be a Link-Belt: The new HTC-3140LB
LAS VEGAS, NV (March 11, 2008)— Link-Belt introduced
the brand-new HTC-3140LB 140-ton (Intn’l rating: 120-mt) hydraulic truck
crane at ConExpo in Las Vegas. Designed as a simple, cost-effective
heavy-lift crane, the HTC-3140LB brings unparalleled capacity and
transportability to what will be the largest truck crane in North
America.
LB stands for Long Boom
Living up to the LB in its name, this crane’s six-section boom is 195.3
ft (59.4 m) with a maximum boom tip height of 204 ft (62.2 m). It has
five boom modes for superior capacities and can telescope a load like a
conventional full power boom. Teflon inserts in the wear pads, now a
fixture in the Link-Belt lineup, eliminate boom grease.
What really makes this boom special, though, are the optional fly
attachments. A 10-ft (3-m) heavy-lift fly has over 20 tons (18.1-mt) of
capacity and lift procedures for two load lines. This fly, integrated
with the optional three-piece, bi-fold lattice fly and three 18-ft
(5.5-m) extensions, allows this LB to reach 311 ft (94.7 m). But
wait—there’s more! There’s a fly option that hydraulically offsets from
2–45 degrees. And with 60,000 lbs (27 215 kg) of optional counterweight,
the capacities of the 3140LB will give pause to the competition.
Moving, moving, moving
With a travel speed around 65 mph (108.6 km-hr), this big truck was
designed to move and the hydro-gas suspension system assures it happens
in comfort. The Caterpillar C15 engine in the lower has 550 hp (410.1
kW) and 1,850 ft-lb (2 508 Nm) of torque and is 2007 on-highway
certified. Putting this power on the road is a 12-speed automated manual
transmission and a 4-speed auxiliary transmission connected to the three
rear axles. Inter-axle and cross-axle locks make certain that jobsite
travel will not be a problem. Keeping this truck on the road and costs
down, the tires are easy-to-find 445/65R22.5’s and 12R22.5’s. Full air
anti-lock brakes (ABS) are standard.
Moving the upper is an efficient, Tier III compliant Caterpillar C6.6
203-hp (151.3 kW) engine with 680 ft-lb (922 Nm) of torque.
Designed specifically to meet the toughest roading laws in North
America, the HTC-3140LB features an ingenious counterweight removal
system where the individual counterweight pieces are designed not to
exceed the single line pull of the winches. For even more flexibility,
the rear winch is hydraulically removable without a helper crane.
Comfort and convenience
Acoustically insulated, the galvaneal steel cab provides a quiet place
to work free from fatiguing and distracting noise. A power-tilting,
six-way adjustable seat gives the operator a perfectly aligned view of
the load. The controls on the armrest tilt with the seat further
enhancing an ergonomic seating position. Heat is standard and air
conditioning optional.
The Microguard Rated Capacity Limiter has an audio/visual warning
system integrated into the dash with anti-two block and function
limiter. Available operating data includes boom length and angle,
percent of allowed load, and optional third wrap indicator. Settable
alarms for maximum tip height, maximum and minimum boom angles, and
operator-defined area keep the operator informed.
Winches
Special fine metering valve settings, selectable from the operator’s
cab, allow very slow movements of the main and auxiliary winches as well
as boom hoist and swing for precision work. Maximum available line pull
is 21,022 lbs (9 535.4 kg) and maximum line speed is 419 ft/min (127.7
m/min).
It has to be…
At every Con-Expo since 1993, Link-Belt has introduced a new truck crane
model that has redefined its class. Customers have decided time and
again that if they need a truck crane, it has to be a Link-Belt. The
HTC-3140LB, with extraordinary reach and transportability while avoiding
unnecessary complexity, will continue Link-Belt’s dominance as the
innovator of the modern truck crane era.
Other standout features of the HTC-3140LB:
- Standard left side aluminum storage box
- Integral cab heating and air conditioning
- Confined Area Lifting Capacities (CALC) for full, intermediate,
and retracted outrigger positions
- Supported 24/7 by Link-Belt Preferred including online manuals,
literature, a ground bearing calculator, and 3D Lift Plan
